Grace’s internship experience at Pitch
May 1, 2024
Internships are still one of the best ways for new communications and marketing industry entrants to find the right career fit for them while also learning some early tricks of the trade.
Recently, we had the pleasure of having Grace Kane join the team for a few months as our digital communications intern. During her time at Pitch, Grace applied her savvy social media skills and enthusiasm for learning to tackle a range of social media, content, video and PR tasks.
Her internship journey reflects the true essence of interning at a multi-disciplinary communication agency like Pitch. From day one, Grace immersed herself in an array of tasks, stepped beyond her comfort zone and embraced opportunities for personal and professional growth.
In her day-to-day, Grace helped the team with video shoots, creating and scheduling social media content, writing blogs and brainstorming creative, innovative ideas for new PR strategies.
Take a look at a day in Grace’s life while interning with us here!
As Grace’s internship with Pitch came to an end, we put her in the hot seat with questions about her favourite projects and what advice she would give others wanting to undertake a similar opportunity. Here’s what she had to say…
Why did you pursue an internship at Pitch?
Grace: The team at Pitch seemed super welcoming and friendly – I knew it would be a great environment to learn in. Plus, since Pitch offers a wide range of services, I have been able to give heaps of different things a go with lots of support around me.
What project/tasks have you most enjoyed working on?
Grace: I have had the chance to try so many different tasks. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being out and about on a few video shoots, capturing interviews, b-roll and social media content. I’ve also loved brainstorming and creating fun and engaging social media content. I just love all things video and socials!
Can you share some advice for others who may want to do an internship?
Grace: I never regret saying yes to things, even if I’m feeling unsure. Trust yourself – just because you’re a student, doesn’t mean you don’t have something to offer! The other thing I’d encourage is to make sure to communicate with your supervisor; tell them what you’re interested in, what you want to do more of, and what you’re not so confident with that you might want to work on!
