Driving success through strategic PR and social media content

Aussie Athlete Fund, founded by five-time Olympian, Natalie Cook OAM OLY, is an organisation dedicated to breaking down financial barriers and supporting the next generation of Australian athletes. From its humble beginnings to achieving significant national impact, we proudly partnered with the Aussie Athlete Fund team to help young elite athletes pursue their Olympic and Paralympic dreams. 

The organisation operates using an innovative model, providing access to funding, fundraising education and mentoring to directly support athletes across Australia.  

Operating in both the competitive sports fundraising sector and the broader not-for-profit landscape, Aussie Athlete Fund faced the challenge of cutting through a crowded space to stand out. With countless organisations vying for donor attention, it was essential to create a strategy that resonated deeply with donors, sponsors and athletes alike. 

We were engaged to manage the launch of the new brand and collaborated on multiple initiatives and programs. Our goal was to shape Aussie Athlete Fund’s brand identity, expand its reach to local and national audiences, increase awareness and drive impactful fundraising outcomes.  

The results

Our work for Aussie Athlete fund achieved excellent results across a range of earned and owned channels, introducing the organisation and its objectives to the Australian sporting community. 

By developing a comprehensive strategy using compelling narratives and emotionally engaging storytelling, we helped Aussie Athlete Fund to build their fundraising efforts and garner support.  Leveraging earned media, we showcased the achievements of athletes supported by the fund, which encouraged continued athlete success and further fundraising efforts. By building a genuine connection with supporters, we helped the Aussie Athlete Fund achieve local, national and global success for its athletes while establishing a strong presence in the competitive fundraising landscape.  

Media coverage was obtained in news outlets including The Courier-Mail, Gold Coast Bulletin, Nine News, The Australian, Local Ipswich News, Tweed Valley Weekly, St George & Sutherland Shire Leader, Newsreel, 4BC radio and others. 

On social media, we launched Aussie Athlete Fund on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, gaining around 2,500 initial followers across the platforms. Given the target audience for corporate funding, LinkedIn was an especially strong channel, while Instagram was popular with younger people, including aspiring athletes.
